This exquisite enamel box by Halcyon Days features one of Scottish artist Jack Vettriano’s most famous paintings. Elegy For A Dead Admiral shows diners at a table on the beach, being served drinks while a violinist plays. It’s painted in Vettriano’s signature red, orange and black shades, with an emphasis on mood and shapes rather than detail. The rectangular enamel box is crafted in the traditional centre of the British enamelling industry, Bilston. The box is made from copper with an enamel coating, a technique that brings the warm colours to life. It has a gilt rim and rich red base.
Halcyon Days was established in London’s Mayfair in 1950. The company revived the traditional art of enamelling on copper, a technique that creates beautiful, vibrant colours. While Halcyon Days makes a variety of jewellery and luxury giftware, it’s nest-known for its exquisite enamel boxes.
As well as being loved by collectors all over the world, Halcyon Days is one of only 14 companies to hold all three Royal Warrants, for Objets D’Art. At Bonds, we have a selection of their appealing hand-painted boxes and bonbonnieres.
