There’s a cheerful painting on the lid of a family bringing home the tree, while the base is decorated with brightly coloured festive scenes. Inside, there’s a traditional Victorian Christmas tree. Crafted in Bilston, once the heart of Britain’s enamelling industry, the little box is made using the classic technique of enamel on copper. This creates the perfect surface for painting.
Halcyon Days was established in London’s Mayfair in 1950. The company revived the traditional art of enamelling on copper, a technique that creates beautiful, vibrant colours. While Halcyon Days makes a variety of jewellery and luxury giftware, it’s nest-known for its exquisite enamel boxes.
As well as being loved by collectors all over the world, Halcyon Days is one of only 14 companies to hold all three Royal Warrants, for Objets D’Art. At Bonds, we have a selection of their appealing hand-painted boxes and bonbonnieres.
