The enamel box from Halcyon Days commemorates the bicentenary of Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson’s death in 1805.
The enamel box from Halcyon Days commemorates the bicentenary of Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson’s death in 1805. The portrait of Lord Nelson is inspired by a miniature in the National Maritime Museum Greenwich, while the base features paintings inspired by Nicholas Pocock’s An Action During the Napoleonic War 1803-1815, also in the NMMC’s collection. Inside the box, there’s Nelson’s coat of arms. The rectangular box is crafted in Bilston from enamel-coated copper. This traditional technique creates the perfect surface for paint, capturing the vibrant colours of the artwork.
Limited Edition 300
Halcyon Days was established in London’s Mayfair in 1950. The company revived the traditional art of enamelling on copper, a technique that creates beautiful, vibrant colours. While Halcyon Days makes a variety of jewellery and luxury giftware, it’s nest-known for its exquisite enamel boxes.
As well as being loved by collectors all over the world, Halcyon Days is one of only 14 companies to hold all three Royal Warrants, for Objets D’Art. At Bonds, we have a selection of their appealing hand-painted boxes and bonbonnieres.
