At Bonds The Jewellers, we are proud to be members of the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ). It has always been our mission to deliver a trustworthy and professional service, and our NAJ membership stands as a mark of this commitment. As part of the National Association of Jewellers, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards within the UK jewellery industry and ensure that you receive exceptionally made and curated fine jewellery when you shop with us.

What Is The National Association Of Jewellers?

The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) is the UK’s leading trade body for the jewellery industry. It was formed in 2015 when the British Jewellers’ Association and the National Association of Goldsmiths were unified to create one distinct body designed to uphold jewellers and jewellery professionals to a distinct set of standards.

Over 1,400 jewellers are now part of the NAJ, with each required to adhere to a set Code of Conduct. These members can be found all over the UK and span a range of specialisms. Many, like us, will offer customers the highest quality across a wide range of jewellery, while others may specialise in just one area such as antique jewellery. Whatever the aims of each member firm, the National Association of Jewellers standards are in place to foster trust amongst jewellery shoppers, allowing you to browse in confidence when you see the coveted NAJ logo displayed.

The National Association Of Jewellers Code Of Conduct

The NAJ’s Code of Conduct outlines the key principles its members must adhere to, promoting integrity and high levels of customer care. Jewellers must sign to say they agree with the conduct rules when they apply to become a member of the National Association of Jewellers, then uphold these values at all times.

Key aspects include the following guiding principles:

  • Honesty – including consistent compliance with relevant jewellery industry legislation, advertising standards, and best practices when dealing with second-hand jewellery.
  • Integrity – members must never act in a way that brings the jewellery industry into disrepute, while also fully honouring any advertised guarantees and/or warranties, operating in an ethical manner, and ensuring that all appropriate items are hallmarked as required by law.
  • Professionalism – member jewellers must also display a commitment to continued training and development, staying aware of changing trends or developments within the industry and only ever undertaking work for which they have appropriate qualifications and/or experience.
