A lovely festive gift, this exquisite enamel box by Halcyon Days has a wonderfully detailed painting of Trafalgar Square at Christmas. The famous Trafalgar Square tree stands in front of iconic Nelson’s Column, while busy Londoners scurry by in the snow. There are also appealing little characters painted around the base of the box, and look out for the special Christmas message on the inside of the lid. The oval box was made in Bilston by the Royal Warrant-holding Halcyon Days. The traditional technique of enamelling over copper gives the colours their beautiful depth and vibrancy.
Halcyon Days was established in London’s Mayfair in 1950. The company revived the traditional art of enamelling on copper, a technique that creates beautiful, vibrant colours. While Halcyon Days makes a variety of jewellery and luxury giftware, it’s nest-known for its exquisite enamel boxes.
As well as being loved by collectors all over the world, Halcyon Days is one of only 14 companies to hold all three Royal Warrants, for Objets D’Art. At Bonds, we have a selection of their appealing hand-painted boxes and bonbonnieres.
