Halcyon Days Cardinal Oval Enamel Box
This stunning enamel box is inspired by the stunning artwork of John James Audobon, famous for his paintings of the natural world.
The red cardinal bird is from Audobon’s epic work, The Birds of America, which features over 400 exquisite illustrations. The book was published between 1827 and 1838. The scarlet base of the box complements the bird’s beautiful plumage, while inside, there’s a brief description of the work.
The oval box is made in Bilston, famous for being the heart of British enamelling craft. The box is made from copper with an enamel coating, a technique that brings out the vivid colours of the bird.
