A simple and elegant rattail paper knife in polished sterling silver, from Francis Howard.
The “tang” is the part of the knife where the blade meets the handle. In a “rattail” or “rat-tail” knife, the tang suddenly narrows, which is said to resemble the join where a rat’s thick body meets its tail. It’s a graceful shape, but not a strong one; and it’s more often used for decorative blades that don’t have to work too hard – perfect for a letter opener.
This silver rattail paper knife has a clean, modern design, with a polished finish. There is a banded detail on the handle.
The paper knife is made from 925 sterling silver, hallmarked in the Sheffield Assay Office.
Francis Howard silversmiths was established in 1870 in Sheffield, the heart of Britain’s silver industry.
The knife comes presented in a gift box. If you’d like to add a short inscription, please contact Bonds for an engraving quote.
