Fabergé

Fabergé Coronation Egg.

Carl Fabergé's work has always delighted and fascinated people and has his place in the history of art as an exceptionally creative artist / jeweller.

He was a great entrepreneur whose firm employed at its peak over 500 artists and workers with its success being fuelled by the boom in the second half of the 19th century in Russia.

Fabergé specialists and connoisseurs have always maintained that they can easily recognise a genuine Fabergé object, and can similarly easily spot a forgery, because of Fabergé's exceptional quality of workmanship.

Although famous for the Fabergé eggs, he produced some of the world's finest jewellery including gold bangles, silver tankards, figurines and replicas and miniatures of beautiful pieces of furniture.

By 1900 his customers included royalty and his reputation had reached the United States and the Far East. However, the 1918 war and Russian revolution brought down the company and it was forced to close. Today there remain a huge body of work and artifacts that display that inimitable style and elegance of Fabergé.
