Halcyon Days Enamels The life that I have enamel Box. Inside the Gold Plated Mount on the Lid and on a Blue background is an Edge of Red Roses and in the middle written in White is the text The life that I have is all that I have And the life that I have is yours The love that I have of the life that I have is yours and yours and yours.The text was written on Christmas Eve 1943 by Leo Marks in memory of his girlfriend Ruth who had just died in a plane crash in Canada. On 24th March 1944 Leo Marks gave the poem to Violette Szabo GC to use as a code whilst working for the Resistance Movement in France during World War ll. Violette Szabo was eventually captured tortured and killed by the Nazis at the age of 23 and the poem went on to be made famous by its inclusion in the 1958 movie about Violette Szabo called Carve Her Name with Pride.
